Christmas Awakening – A Revolution of the Soul
Last week I gave a workshop in London at an event hosted by The Islington Hub and Akasha Innovation. What a lovely group of people attended and actively took part. One fine chap, Charles, took the opportunity to write a poem. It is not usual for me to have a poem dedicated to me after a workshop, a kind gift from one human to another and I share this poem here, as a Christmas gift to us all.
The world within, without
People need a pill.
When they’ve got so ill.
A mind full of motive,
And never still.
The illusion is unconsciousness.
To tread the path –
Darwin told Western man:
The physical evolves, subsists.
Not as all energy,
Earth, moon and sun.
A mind without motive,
Is utterly still.
Take a tree –
Don’t let the attention flee.
What you inhale,
And in competition,
Man really fails.
But Darwin stopped at the evolution of the body.
A mind just accumulates.
It’s fundamentally shoddy.
Energy is dynamic.
More profound and panoramic.
Nothing will happen,
Until individual human beings,
Accept and know,
They’ll die one day.
And put aside fear and dismay.
This does not mean –
Run off into pleasure, escape or leisure.
It means to grow.
This is the only way to solve,
The senseless situation,
Which we call the world.
And to add to this, here is an extract of Christopher Fry’s poem ‘A Sleep of Prisoners’:
Dark and cold we may be, but this
Is no winter now. The frozen misery
Of centuries breaks, cracks, begins to move;
The thunder is the thunder of the floes,
The thaw, the flood, the upstart Spring.
Thank God our time is now when wrong
Comes up to face us everywhere,
Never to leave us till we take
The longest stride of soul we ever took.
Here is a short video clip of a talk I gave at a conference the other week – it links to a playlist of 8 podcasts which cover aspects of the whys and wherefores of our flawed worldview and explores a way ahead, a fresh consciousness beyond illusion:
As UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has said, the world is in the midst of a Great Transition, what the Greeks called Kairos, a supreme moment. There is a transformation in consciousness happening, being birthed within and all around us. Christmas celebrates just this birth. Let’s bring it on.
As peace pioneer Scilla Elworthy says,
‘Only a leap in consciousness can provide a new paradigm… Have you ever dared to imagine what life could be like…through the interaction of the Unified Field, one person waking up can have an improbably contagious effect. Like leaven bread, the awakening of a few individuals can raise the whole loaf.’
My vision is of a global home where we freely reciprocate in the co-creative, participatory, improvisational dance of Nature. We celebrate life’s adventure through learning to love ourselves, each other and all aspects of life. This is a world where we re-cognise the ground of our being in our midst: each unfolding moment of magic, where miracles spawn. A world where our interrelations within this sacredness allow us to swim the seas of synchronicity – whether local or global, community or business, for-profit or non-profit – where small steps of change resonate with love and devotion; where we each take responsibility for the quality of our attention and intention.
What’s your vision?
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. May time with friends and family and alone be deeply nourishing and awakening.
